For many, a truck is simply a piece of equipment. But for Bandstra Transportation, truck number one represents something much larger — history, community, and decades of relationships built across Western Canada.
Recently, Bandstra Adam Kirkwood spent the day taking the restored truck through the community, visiting customers and reconnecting with the people who have been part of the company’s journey over the years.
“I got to spend the afternoon taking truck number one around town, visiting some customers and seeing the sights,” says Kirkwood. “It was a very good day.”
The response from customers and community members was immediate.

“This truck here is just a testament to Bandstra’s longevity in the region and their commitment to the communities they serve.”
The decision to restore and showcase truck number one was rooted in preserving history while celebrating the values that continue to guide the company today: reliability, hard work, and strong community ties.
As Bandstra has grown over the years, maintaining those connections has remained a priority. The restored truck serves as a visible reminder of where the company started and the people who helped build it.
By bringing a piece of its history back into the communities it serves, Bandstra is reinforcing something that has always been central to its identity — growth means little without remembering your roots.
For Kirkwood, the day represented both reflection and optimism.
“It’s a true testament to how great this company is,” he says, “and how much greater it’s going to be going forward.”
