Meet Baldev, a Class 1 truck driver for Bandstra's Kamloops terminal
In a short time, Baldev has built out a new career & life he could only dream of.
Baldev operates all sorts of equipment, including 1 ton, 5 ton, and semi-trucks with dryvan, flatbeds, and step decks. The freight he hauls ranges from fragile decorative glass to mining equipment.
I got my Class 1 driver’s license in 2014 I came to Canada in 2021 and I started my career with the Bandstra Transportation.
He lives in Kamloops with his wife, Arwind, who is studying at Thompson Rivers University.
Being a career oriented woman gives you a lot of space and time if you're married to a truck driver. Kamloops is a place and pretty and nice city full of natural beauty. And it is so welcoming it feels like home here, that is the best part.
Baldev's day starts with loading my trailer and delivering that freight to our customers, and then switching in the evening.
His favourite part of truck driving is to see happy faces when the goods are safely delivered, but also the team he gets to work with every day.
I always suggest my friends to come to work at Bandstra because they're flexibility over here and good pay and well-maintained equipment. Being part of the Bandstra family is beautiful. It actually gives you the flexibility because they're giving me opportunity to start my career out here in Canada and I'm so thankful to Bandstra.
