Scott is a Transportation Mechanic at Bandstra, helping keep the fleet running safely and reliably every day. From routine maintenance to bigger repairs, Scott and the shop team work on just about every part of the trucks and trailers that keep Bandstra moving.

“As a commercial transport mechanic at Bandstra, we do fleet maintenance and some fabrication — keeping the trucks and trailers rolling,” Scott says. Whether it’s brakes, airbags, trailer decks, landing legs, or structural repairs, the team gets into a bit of everything. They also handle welding, fabrication, and diagnosing engine or check-engine light issues when they come up.
“The bigger jobs give you a sense of accomplishment. When you have a hard issue and you can fix it, it makes you feel good.”
A typical day starts with checking for any urgent issues that drivers may have flagged. “We come in, make sure there are no major issues and see if anyone needs immediate help,” Scott explains. From there, the team works through the day’s repairs and preventative maintenance to keep equipment in good shape and minimize downtime..

“We’re like a family down here in the shop and the rest of the building. Everyone’s super nice and I enjoy it.”
